Total Locking Stem Casters - 57 Series - Medium Duty - Zinc Plated Steel

This Total Locking Stem Caster is ideal for applications that must be totally immobile when the caster brake is engaged. Its design ensures that the swivel of the caster and the wheel are locked at the same time. This is a very popular caster for both consumer and business applications. They are available with 3", 4" & 5" diameter wheels. We offer the Total locking caster along with matching swivel and rigid casters.

The most important decision when selecting a general duty caster is the type of wheel material to use. The following are the factors to consider: Floor Material and Surface, Weight and use of object. Always choose more capacity in the casters than the maximum amount of weight that will be needed. For most objects, figure the weight of the object and divide by the number of casters that you will install. As a rule of thumb, add 20% to that amount for safety. For objects that will be sitting in one place for long periods of time, either a hard wheel should be used or a softer wheel with twice the capacity for the weight that it will hold. Softer wheel materials may be required to protect floors but those wheel materials have a tendency to develop flat spots from sitting in one place for long periods of time. By only using half of their capacity, the wheels should not develop flat spots.

Available Stems
Threaded Stems:
Our Threaded Stems are available in the following sizes: 1/2" - 13 x 1" Long, 1/2" - 13 x 1 1/2" Long and 1/2" - 13 x 2 11/16" Long. The 2 11/16" Stem is NOT threaded all the way down. The threads STOP approx 1" from the top of the swivel bearing so only the upper part of the stem is threaded.

If you are not sure what size thread you need: THE SAFEST THING TO DO IS TO TAKE THE CASTER OR GLIDE TO A HARDWARE STORE LIKE HOME DEPOT OR LOWES, ANY STORE WHERE THEY SELL NUTS AND BOLTS. Find a nut that fits on the threads and THAT is the size of your threads. This is a "Can't Miss" approach to the threaded stem problem.

Expandable Adapters:
The Expandable Adapter is designed to go inside of tubing. You must choose the appropriate size to fit the inside dimension of your tubing. The tubing can be either SQUARE or ROUND. Installation is easy. Simple turn the nut on the top of the stem until you get a snug fit while pushing the caster into the tube. Once it is inserted, turn the swivel bearing of the caster counter clockwise which will further expand the rubber inside the tubing. The actual working decimal dimensions of the adapters are:
